Theosophy Testimony

TESTIMONY OF “PHIL”
(Former member of the Theosophical Society)

“As a student (of Theosophy) I was to fill out meditation forms each month and send them in to the HQ, where they advised and gave instruction and leading on how to improve these meditations. This went on for some years until I became a Secretary for the Arcane School, which means that I had students under my control and I was responsible too for the many students around the world who were sending me their meditation reports so I could comment on them. This was a tremendous ego-building influence.”I became interested in a Church during these latter years of involvement in the Arcane School. We had four children by that stage and we felt they also should have a Christian upbringing so they could have something to compare with the truth that I had discovered, for I had envisaged them following along in my steps. There was, however, one aspect of the Bible which I had difficulty getting to grips with. I was very prone to using my mind, I guess, to find out the reasons why things work, but I could never come to grips with the concept of grace. ‘You have been saved by grace because you believe. You did not save yourselves. It was a gift from God. You cannot brag that you are saved by the work you have done’Ephesians 2:8-9 (ICB). That is a nonsense to the mind. You can’t really rationalise that. ‘By grace you are saved through faith.’ How do you rationalise that? So this was where I started to look deeper into the things in the Scriptures, because there must have been more to it than meets the eye, so I thought, and have since confirmed this to be true.

“We were asked to be camp parents at a church camp, and we agreed to that on the condition we weren’t asked to do anything but just be there in the background. But when we were at camp we saw these young people with joy on their faces, and excitement we had never seen before, and we really wanted to know what this was all about and what they had discovered which we certainly hadn’t. So we wanted to find a church which had the sort of excitement and zeal. Needless to say it didn’t take us long to find such a church which had that movement of the Holy Spirit in it, and in time we became baptised and recommitted our lives back to the Lord, then we were baptised in the Holy Spirit, and our whole family went through that experience and still today are going on for God.”
